If your hip pain interferes with daily activities and nonsurgical treatments haven't helped or are no longer effective, hip replacement surgery, also known as total hip arthroplasty, may be an option for you. Arthritis deterioration is the most common reason for hip replacement.

If you have severe pain, swelling and stiffness in your hip joint and your mobility is reduced. your hip pain is so severe that it interferes with your quality of life and sleep.

Total hip replacement surgery takes about one and a half hours. Most patients also stay in the hospital for one or two days after the procedure.
You can expect to experience some discomfort in the hip region itself, as well as groin pain and thigh pain. This is normal as your body adjusts to changes made to joints in that area.
The best position to sleep in after total hip replacement is on your back with a pillow between your legs. You can also sleep on your non-operative side with two pillows lined between your legs.
